ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): On Sunday, Christians worldwide celebrated Easter 2026, which commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection through their religious practices and festive celebrations.
Special prayer services were conducted in churches throughout the nation, which displayed their festive decorations through colorful flags and lights. Worshippers gathered in large numbers to offer prayers for peace, prosperity, and harmony.
The government established strict security measures at churches throughout the country to enable safe holiday celebrations.
PM, President’s Message for Easter 2026
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and across the globe.
In his message, the president said Easter symbolizes compassion, hope, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Christian community, which he described as essential to the social structure of the nation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif explained that Easter presents a universal message that teaches people to love others through self-sacrifice while forgiving those who have wronged them.
He stressed that people must maintain peace through mutual respect, which allows different religious groups to work together in harmony. He praised the Christian community for its active participation in Pakistan’s economic progress and its social development efforts, which have created positive impacts throughout the nation.
Sindh Announces Two Public Holidays
The Sindh government has announced April 5 and 6 as holidays for the Christian community on the occasion of Easter.
According to an official notification, Christian employees working in the provincial government departments will be granted holidays on April 5 (today) and April 6 (Monday) to celebrate their religious festival.
One of the most important festivals for the community, Christians celebrate Easter with traditional zeal and religious fervour every year.

Authorities have beefed up security nationwide to maintain law and order on the occasion.
