ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): After the public outcry, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has revived the old fare rates of metro and electric buses in Islamabad.
The spokesperson for the civic agency informed that the authority revoked the fare hike on the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The notification stated that the restoration of old fares will apply to all bus routes, such as the Orange Line, Green Line, Blue Line, and Electric Bus feeder routes, with effect from now.
It must be pointed out that citizens had protested vigorously against the fare hike, following which the decision had to be withdrawn by the authority.
The city administrators had raised the fare from Rs 50 to Rs 100 from June 1, cutting the subsidy on bus service.
