KOLKATA (Kashmir English): Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green was held back from bowling in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) match against the Mumbai Indians last night due to a “lower back injury”.
The questions were raised about Green’s, the most expensive overseas player in IPL, absence from the bowling crease. He was bought for INR 25.20 crore by KKR at the most recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction.
Answering the question about an all-rounder’s non-contribution to bowling, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane responded, “Ask Cricket Australia”.
In response, the Australian cricket body said that Green is dealing with a minor back complaint and his IPL franchise was well briefed on the details.”
The CA spokesperson said that Cameron has a lower back injury, which is being managed but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period.
“Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India with a view to returning in around 10-12 days. KKR has been communicated with and is fully aware of this information,” the spokesperson said.
Kolkata Knight Riders lost their first outing in IPL against the Mumbai Indian by six wickets.
