MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Mirpur police solved the mystery revolving around the body found in Mangla Dam within 24 hours, and arrested two biological brothers as the killers.
According to preliminary investigations, a family dispute was the cause of the incident, SSP Khurram Iqbal made important revelations during a press conference.
According to details, body of a youth Waqas Altaf was found in Mangla Dam. With the help of modern technical means and professional investigation, police arrested two biological brothers allegedly involved in the murder, who belong to Nakka.
Police also claimed to have recovered the weapon used in the murder based on the identification of the suspects.
During the press conference, SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal stated that upon receiving information about Waqas Altaf’s disappearance, the police registered a case and initiated a search and investigation.
During this time, the youth’s body was recovered from Mangla Dam, after which the incident turned into a blind murder.
It was a major challenge for the police to gather solid evidence and bring the actual facts to light and reach the killers involved in the murder.
According to SSP Khurram Iqbal, the police team including DSP City Haji Sikandar Azam and SHO City Faisal Siddique expanded the scope of investigation, and finally traced and arrested both biological brothers, Isa and Rizwan, allegedly involved in the murder.
Based on the identification by the suspects, police have also recovered the fishing net, rope, wires, blocks, and other relevant equipment used in the incident.
The SSP stated that according to preliminary investigations, a family dispute became the motive behind the incident, however, all aspects of the incident are being reviewed so that the investigation can be further strengthened and completed on the basis of evidence.
