SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has urged the international community to take serious notice of Indian state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that the suppression of Kashmiris’ voices and their struggle to protect their identity and political rights cannot silence their legitimate aspirations for freedom.
The spokesman denounced the intensified use of military force, a surge in raids on the residences of ordinary people, activists and youth, arbitrary arrests and the attachment and confiscation of properties.
He termed them as repressive policies pursued by the BJP-led Indian regime and its authorities in the occupied territory.
He said that the continued militarisation, harassment of civilians and intimidation of political activists were aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear and suppressing political dissent in the territory.
He added that such measures had further aggravated the suffering of the Kashmiri people and deprived them of their fundamental rights and freedoms.
The APHC spokesman emphasized that Indian brutalities, military operations and repressive measures could never suppress the Kashmiris’ determination to achieve their right to self-determination.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir would continue their peaceful struggle until their legitimate aspirations were fulfilled and the lingering dispute reached its logical conclusion.
The statement reiterated the Hurriyat’s principled position that Jammu and Kashmir was an internationally recognised dispute awaiting a final settlement through a meaningful dialogue involving all stakeholders, in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The APHC urged the United Nations, the UN Human Rights Council and international human rights organisations to take urgent cognizance of the human rights situation in the occupied territory, particularly the frequent cordon-and-search operations, arbitrary detentions, harassment of civilians, restrictions on political activities and punitive property attachments.
HRs violations in IIOJK
It called upon the international community to hold India accountable for human rights violations and ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, including their right to freedom of expression, peaceful political activity and self-determination.
The spokesman emphasised that the Kashmir dispute could not be resolved through military force, coercion or administrative measures, but required a just and peaceful settlement in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The APHC reiterated that lasting peace and stability in South Asia remained closely linked to the peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which must be settled in accordance with the internationally recognised commitments and the aspirations of its people.
