LAHORE (Kashmir English): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistani batsman Babar Azam for a level one violation of the Code of Conduct.
According to the ICC, Babar Azam breached the Code of Conduct in the third match against Sri Lanka.
The ICC said that Babar Azam has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for a level one violation, and one demerit point has also been added to the cricketer’s disciplinary record. Babar Azam has admitted to violating the ICC’s Code of Conduct.
It should be noted that Babar Azam hit the bat stumps after being dismissed in the 21st over against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Stadium.
Fifteen Thousand International Runs for Pakistan
Earlier in the series, Babar Azam completed fifteen thousand international runs during the third match played against South Africa in Faisalabad.
He achieved this milestone in the third match of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, in which he was run out after scoring 27 runs off 32 balls.
Babar Azam has become the fifth Pakistani batter to achieve this landmark.
Before him, Javed Miandad (16,213), Inzamam-ul-Haq(20,541), Younis Khan (17,790), and Muhammad Yousaf (17,134) had achieved this feat in their careers.
The fastest to reach 15,000 international runs (by innings) is Virat Kohli in 333 innings, followed by Hashim Amla in 336, Viv Richards in 344, and others. Babar Azam is the 5th fastest overall.
He has scored 4,366 runs in Test, 6,330+ runs in ODI, and 4,302 runs in T20 international.
20th International Century for Pakistan
He also scored his 20th ODI century against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, tying Saeed Anwar’s record for the most ODI centuries by a Pakistani batter.
Anwar scored 20 ODI centuries in 244 innings during his career, whereas Babar Azam accomplished this feat in just 136 innings. Thus, he also became the world’s third fastest batter to score 20 centuries in the fewest innings.
In this list, South Africa’s Hashim Amla tops with 108 innings, while India’s Virat Kohli completed 20 centuries in 133 innings.
Babar Azam scored this ODI century at a time when more than two years had passed since his last century.
This century, scored after 2 years, not only announced Babar Azam’s return to form but also once again highlighted his name in Pakistan’s ODI history.
In the second match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the national team defeated Sri Lanka to win the series.
