TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Iran’s martyred Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was buried in Mashhad on July 9, according to Iranian media reports.
According to Iranian media, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was buried in the premises of the Imam Reza Shrine. The martyr’s funeral prayer was led by his eldest son, Ayatollah Seyyed Mustafa Khamenei.
Thousands of people poured onto the streets of Mashhad to bid the martyred Supreme Leader a final farewell.
According to Iranian media, the 6-day funeral and burial ceremonies of martyred Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were held in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad, with approximately 43 million people attending.
It should be noted that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s body was transported from Najaf to the Iranian city of Mashhad. Iranian Air Force planes escorted the plane carrying the body to Mashhad Airport.
Earlier, Ayatollah Khamenei’s body was also taken to the shrines of Imam Hussein (RA) and Imam Abbas (RA) in Karbala, and funeral prayers were offered. According to the Governor’s Office, more than 7 million mourners participated in the funeral procession.
