JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): Speaking after Field Marshal Asim Munir’s Eid visit to forward positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jhelum Valley, Education Minister Diwan Ali Khan Chaghtai said the presence of Pakistan’s top military leadership on the frontlines had sent a strong message of support to the Kashmiri nation.
He said that Field Marshal Munir’s statement, “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and defending every inch of it is the army’s top priority”, had filled Kashmiris with pride.
Chughtai added that the general’s remarks, made just after a decisive victory over the enemy, showed that the Kashmir issue has become a flashpoint once again.
He said Pakistan has played its diplomatic role well in highlighting the Kashmir dispute.
Referring to the general’s direct message to India that “any future attack on civilian populations will be met with a response four times stronger than Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” Chughtai said the warning had brought a wave of relief to people living along the LoC.
“The recent statement from the Field Marshal has reassured people that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared and alert to defend every part of the region,” he said.
Chughtai also noted that the army’s firm response to past aggression had left the enemy unsettled, and any potential misadventure on the LoC had now been deterred by this powerful message.
