ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): After the retirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, anti-state social media accounts have launched a misleading and fabricated campaign.

As per details, these anti-Pakistan elements are attempting to create unrest, chaos, and disorder in the country through an organised political agenda. In the latest attempt, reports issued regarding the May 9 incidents are entirely false, baseless, and against the facts.

These anti-state elements lack any understanding of the Pakistan Army’s internal command structure and are intentionally misleading the public.

On May 9, 2023, when PTI violent protestors attacked military installations, the Pakistan Army’s response was directly in accordance with clear and unequivocal directives from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), executed through the official chain of command.

The position of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee plays no role in operational matters, neither in the Army nor in any other service.

The same situation prevailed when the May 9 incidents were carried out, where the CJCSC institution was not involved in any institutional or operational directives.

Any allegation regarding the role of the CJCSC is fabricated, against the facts, and misleading propaganda. Such conspiracies are mere attempts to defame state institutions and harm unity.

For the unversed, a special ceremony was held at the Joint Staff Headquarters earlier to bid farewell to General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), as he concluded 40 years of distinguished military service and stepped down as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), according to an official statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ceremony was attended by former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee as well as senior officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the ISPR stated.

In his farewell address, General Mirza expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty for granting him the strength to serve the nation with dedication, professionalism, and selfless commitment.

He paid glowing tribute to the Armed Forces for their unwavering sacrifices in defending the country and honoured the martyrs and their families for their enduring courage.

General Mirza noted that, given the current geo-strategic environment, a strong national defence remains a very important pillar of Pakistan’s security framework. He reaffirmed that the nation’s defence was “impregnable.”

Shamshad also said that Pakistan’s officers and soldiers stand ever prepared to make it even stronger.
