NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): Another pregnant woman lost her life due to the unavailability of timely medical treatment in the Neelum Valley district of Azad Kashmir.

As per details, a 20-year-old pregnant woman, a resident of Shounter Valley, was unable to reach the hospital due to the snowfall and the closure of the road, resulting in her demise during childbirth.

The unfortunate woman was being taken to the hospital, but the ambulance could not reach her in time. She failed to reach THQ hospital Kel due to a lack of road facilities.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage among the local residents, who are demanding basic facilities from the government, including healthcare and infrastructure.

Locals said that this is not the first incident, but every year, patients face difficulties in accessing medical facilities due to heavy snowfall in remote areas of Neelum Valley.

The Chairman of the Town Committee, Sardar Amjad, has warned of severe public backlash if the Shounter Road is not opened immediately.

The lack of medical facilities in the area has been a long-standing issue, with the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Domail lacking staff and equipment.

Residents of the area have demanded that the government and relevant institutions immediately establish medical centers in Shounter Valley and other mountainous areas and take steps to keep the roads so that such heartbreaking incidents are avoided in the future.
