MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Just days after the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government lifted a ban on appointments and transfers, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department has restricted the process again with immediate effect.

The department has issued an order in this regard, imposing a ban on appointments and transfers/postings in the department until further notice.

The development follows the government’s decision to lift a ban on appointments and transfers in government and semi-government departments and institutions across AJK.

The ban was imposed shortly after the formation of the new government on September 4. The Services and General Administration Department order stated that it is necessary to obtain special relaxation from the government for appointments or transfers in unavoidable cases.

Later, AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani approved the lifting of the general ban with effect from October 1. The move was followed by the transfer and reshuffling of several administrative officers.

The Schools Education Department, however, has now decided to restrict the process of appointments and transfers within its jurisdiction despite the lifting of the broader government-wide ban.
