MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday summoned the Registrar of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in a personal capacity on a contempt of court petition.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan and Senior Judge Justice Raza Ali Khan, issued this order while hearing the contempt petition.
According to the petitioner, Saima Haroon, Admin Officer of the UAJK, the Supreme Court had given a clear order to promote her in the year 2018, which was upheld in the review petition filed later.
However, despite these court orders, the university administration has not yet implemented them.
Taking this alleged non-compliance seriously, the court has ordered the Registrar of the University to appear in person at the next hearing so that the reasons for non-implementation of the court orders can be clarified.
According to legal experts, if the court concludes that there has been a deliberate violation of the orders, contempt of court proceedings can be initiated against the relevant authorities, which may include fines or other legal penalties.
