MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir Police on Thursday issued a formal notice to its reserve officers and personnel in Muzaffarabad Division, prohibiting them from sharing posts on social media related to salary differences or strikes.

The notice was issued by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Reserve Wing Commander, Region Muzaffarabad Office.

The notice also directed officers and personnel to delete any existing posts related to salary disparities or strikes from their social media accounts immediately.

“Strict disciplinary action will be taken against officers or personnel who violate this rule, with no excuses accepted,” police said.

Earlier last month, the police department warned its active employees against participating in a social media campaign discussing salary disparities between police personnel and employees of other departments.

In a press release shared by the Region Office Poonch Rawalakot, the department said that it considers such discussions “baseless and rumor-based” and has reminded employees that, as a disciplinary force, they are subject to specific rules and regulations.

“Police employees are strictly prohibited from participating in or posting about the salary disparity issue on social media,” it added.

The statement added that the police department is a “disciplinary force” and is considered an Essential Service. “Departmental rules and regulations also do not allow police employees to join any such campaign.”
