AJK PM, Hurriyat Leaders Vow Joint Push For Kashmir Cause

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), led by its Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, called on AJK Prime Minister (PM) Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Wednesday and congratulated him on assuming office.

During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on highlighting the Kashmir issue at the global level, the latest situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and the ongoing struggle for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

PM Rathore reaffirms commitment

PM Rathore reaffirmed that presenting the Kashmir issue in its true context remains the PPP government’s top priority.

To advance the cause more effectively, he said a joint strategy would be formulated in collaboration with the Hurriyat leadership.

Recalling the PPP’s historic commitment to the Kashmir cause, the AJK premier noted that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had founded the party on the basis of the Kashmir question.

He further said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto not only introduced Hurriyat leaders to the world but also vigorously highlighted the Kashmir issue at international forums during her tenure as Pakistan’s prime minister.

He also acknowledged President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for consistently championing Kashmiris’ right to self-determination at global platforms. Prime Minister Rathore assured the delegation of his government’s continued support to further the Kashmir cause.

The PM stressed the need for coordinated efforts and mutual consultation among all Kashmiri stakeholders to evolve a comprehensive strategy for taking the freedom movement to its logical conclusion.

The Hurriyat delegation thanked the Prime Minister and assured him of its full support. Members of the delegation included Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Mahmood Ahmed Sagar, Advocate Pervez Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Ijaz Rehmani, Imtiaz Ahmed Wani, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Sheikh Abdul Majid, and Raja Shaheen.
