MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Another major achievement for AJK Medical College Muzaffarabad is the official recognition to form the Nursing and Midwifery College Muzaffarabad.
This marks a remarkable step forward in healthcare education in the region, setting the stage for improved nursing training under expert supervision.
The college will be housed in a building adjacent to the medical college, which has now been formally designated for the new Nursing and Midwifery College Muzaffarabad.
Classes are expected to commence in June 2025. Additionally, a visit from the Pakistan Nursing Council is anticipated soon to further formalise the launch process.
One of the most notable aspects of this new institution is its distinction as the third of its kind in Pakistan, following Shifa International and Aga Khan University, and the very first in Azad Kashmir.
The Nursing and Midwifery College Muzaffarabad will provide nursing students with the unique opportunity to study under the guidance of PhD-level faculty from the medical college. This is expected to significantly raise the standard of education.
The same professors have already contributed to the success of MBBS students at AJK Medical College, who have achieved outstanding results globally. Most recently, students secured a 96.26 per cent success rate in exams, placing the college at the top across Pakistan.
The public and academic circles have extended heartfelt congratulations to Principal Professor Dr Adnan Mehraj, recognising his visionary leadership. Since taking charge, Dr Mehraj has led several important initiatives in a short period.
These include the relocation of the medical college to a new campus, securing teaching hospital status for Hattian Bala Hospital, addressing faculty shortages, and now overseeing the launch of the Nursing and Midwifery College Muzaffarabad.
With its official launch on the horizon, the Nursing and Midwifery College Muzaffarabad is poised to become a beacon of high-quality nursing education in the region, shaping the future of healthcare with skilled and well-trained professionals.
