AJK Inland Revenue Department recovers over Rs12.5 million from tax defaulters

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Inland Revenue Department of Azad Kashmir has successfully recovered over Rs12.5 million from tax defaulters, including sales tax and education cess from industrial units in the Mirpur Industrial Area.

This recovery is part of the department’s efforts to meet its revenue targets, led by Chairman Central Board of Revenue, Chaudhry Raqeeb, who issued strict instructions to ensure thorough revenue collection at the end of the fiscal year 2024-25.

Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue, Chaudhry Mahmood Alam, formed a special unit comprising Inspector Nasir Mahmood, Inspector Asif Shah, and Inspector Muhammad Luqman Jaral, which has been working tirelessly to recover taxes.

This unit had previously frozen the bank account of a well-known clothing brand, recovering over Rs2.5 crore for the government, the department said in a statement.

The successful recovery campaigns align with Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq’s vision to make Azad Jammu and Kashmir economically independent.
