MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has cancelled all appointments made on an acting, current, and additional charge basis in the Forest Department.

The notification stated that all forest department employees in grades 1 to 18 with acting, current, or additional charge have been sacked in light of the Supreme Court of Azad Kashmir order.

“Under the government decision, now temporary arrangements will be made for 13 posts of Assistant Conservator of Forests (B-17) under the direct quota and 58 posts of Range Officer (B-16) under the direct quota,” it added.

However, the requisition of these posts has been sent to the Public Service Commission (PSC), and the matter in this regard is under hearing in the court.

According to the notification, appointments to all posts under the promotion quota will be made on the basis of relevant rules and regulations and seniority to ensure merit and transparency.

According to sources, this decision aims to eliminate appointments made on a non-permanent and temporary basis in the Forest Department and to organize the service structure in accordance with legal requirements.

Experts say that this step will not only promote the supremacy of merit but will also make the procedure for appointments in government departments more transparent.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court of Azad Kashmir had directed in its decision that appointments on the basis of acting, current charge, and additional charge in government departments should be limited, and permanent appointments should be made only under the prescribed legal procedure.

In this context, the government has initiated large-scale reforms in the Forest Department.
