AJK forest dept cracks down on illegal logging

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Forest Department, in a crackdown against illegal logging, seized 6 logs and 2 cedar sleepers.

According to the Forest Department, this timber was being transported in a Land Cruiser vehicle, number LZD1000, belonging to Imtiaz Qureshi, a resident of Neelum.

During the operation, the culprits unloaded half of the goods on the spot and fled, but the Forest Department confiscated the timber. Following the incident, an FIR has been lodged on the complaint of the Forest Department, and efforts to apprehend the culprits are underway.

The Forest Department has clarified that actions against those involved in illegal logging and damaging forests will continue indiscriminately in the future.
