MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Food Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday dismissed the reports circulating in the media regarding the flour shortage in Haveli District.

The Food Department spokesperson clarified that the flour supply and delivery in Haveli and other areas of Azad Kashmir are continuing normally.

In an official statement, the department spokesperson clarified that the delivery and distribution of flour remain uninterrupted and that all available resources are being utilized to ensure the public receives quality and affordable flour.

The department said continuous monitoring of flour depots and distributors was being carried out to prevent inconvenience to citizens.

The statement further stated that residents of Haveli living in the jurisdiction of Bagh District were also being supplied flour from Haveli District’s allocated quota.

According to the spokesperson, Food Department field staff remain active in all districts of Azad Kashmir to maintain a smooth supply chain and address public needs on priority.

The department added that daily monitoring of flour availability and delivery was underway, while strict action was also being taken against hoarding and the creation of artificial shortages.

The statement, however, said that there had been a temporary disruption in flour supply last month due to lockdowns and transportation issues in Pakistan, but said the situation had since been resolved.

The Food Department maintained that there was currently no shortage of flour in the Haveli district or adjoining areas.
