AJK Food Authority in action; fines shopkeepers for violation of laws

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority team conducted an operation at Athmuqam Bazaar to review the implementation of food safety laws.

According to details, on the instructions of District Food Controller Syed Shujaat Hussain Naqvi, the Food Authority team visited Athmuqam Bazaar. During the operation, cleanliness, hoarding, and standard principles were checked in shops and food outlets.

A fine of Rs 22,500 was imposed collectively on the shopkeepers for violation of laws, while two samples were sent to laboratory for testing.

In addition, an unregistered company was identified, against which further legal action has been initiated.

Food Authority destroyed substandard items

The Food Authority immediately destroyed substandard merchandise worth Rs 12,000 on the spot and issued notices to several shopkeepers and food handlers.

According to Food Authority officials, such inspections will continue in the future to ensure the provision of quality and safe food to the public.
