ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday extended the deadline for the withdrawal of nomination papers for candidates contesting the upcoming elections.
According to the Election Commission spokesperson, candidates can now withdraw their nomination papers until tomorrow, July 4, under the revised schedule, which was previously set for July 3.
Following the completion of the withdrawal process, the Election Commission will publish the final list of contesting candidates on July 5 and will allot election symbols on July 6.
The spokesperson said that Returning Officers (ROs) have nomination papers of 1,092 candidates from all 45 constituencies following scrutiny and appeal proceedings.
After the issuance of the final list of candidates along with their election symbols, the formal election campaign will enter its next phase, the Commission spokesperson said.
Assistant Election Commissioner Zeeshan Khalil said the election schedule had been extended by one day at each stage to facilitate the electoral process.
He added that all arrangements were being completed in accordance with the prescribed rules, and the election process was continuing smoothly.
He further stated that the polling for the AJK Legislative Assembly elections will be held on July 27, 2026, from 8 am to 5 pm.
