MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a significant administrative development, the Board of Revenue of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has officially approved the establishment of a new tehsil, Tehsil Garhi Dupatta, in Muzaffarabad district.

According to an official notification issued by the Board of Revenue, the newly created tehsil will comprise nine Patwar Halkas that were previously part of the Muzaffarabad subdivision. These include Langarpura, Thotha, Lavasi, Hattian Dupatta, Kai Manja, Dachhor Miran, Garhi Dupatta, Komikot, and Jhandgran.

The move is expected to improve administrative efficiency, enhance public service delivery, and facilitate residents in accessing government services closer to their homes.

Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that the new tehsil will accelerate development and address longstanding administrative challenges in the area.

The notification has come into effect immediately, marking a major step in strengthening local governance in the region.
