KURRAM (Kashmir English): Security forces responded to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban personnel in the Taida sector of Upper Kurram and the Ghozgarhi border area, security sources said on Saturday.

According to the sources, Afghan Taliban opened fire to facilitate the cross-border movement of Fitna Al Khawarij terrorists. Pakistani forces gave a strong and effective response by targeting Afghan border positions across the border.

As per security sources, the Pakistan Army used artillery fire to target the Afghan Taliban’s Topsar post and Shipola base camp in the Upper Kurram sector.

The sources further added that several Afghan Taliban personnel were killed during the retaliatory action near Ghozgarhi and that Taliban personnel vacated a border post following the exchange of fire.

The retaliatory action also destroyed Shipola base camp, with an exchange of fire continuing in the border area, sources maintained.
