LONDON (Kashmir English): Senior leader Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) UK, Raja Shabir Ahmed, has welcomed the announcement made by Prime Minister Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif regarding the establishment of Mirpur International Airport.
He noted that former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed had jointly pledged to build this airport back in 2013.
He stated that the construction of the Mirpur International Airport has long been a major demand of overseas Kashmiris around the world.
He expressed hope that the project will now finally be realized. He expressed confidence that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif would utilize his trademark “Shehbaz Speed” to complete this important project swiftly.
He emphasized that this airport would ease the travel challenges faced by overseas Kashmiris and help them connect more easily with their homeland in Azad Kashmir.
He also acknowledged the commendable efforts of British High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal, British MPs Mohammad Yasin, Lord Qurban Hussain, Naz Shah, and other notable figures who consistently underlined the need for the establishment of the Mirpur International Airport.
Project to benefits entire Mirpur Division
Welcoming the airport’s feasibility report, Raja Shabir emphasized that the airport should be constructed at a location that benefits the entire Mirpur Division.
He hoped that the construction work on Mirpur International Airport will begin very soon, and the people of Azad Kashmir will witness a transformative change through the successful execution of this major project.
