KOTLI (Kashmir English): Secretary Food Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Sohail Azam paid a detailed visit to Kotli district, during which he reviewed the overall performance of the Food Department, the supply of subsidized flour and the condition of the Food Depot Kotli.
He was accompanied by Deputy Director Food Mirpur Division Ijaz Qamar, District Food Controller Kotli Munawar Chohan, Food Analyst Mirpur Division Muhammad Jalil and Assistant Food Controller Kotli Yasir Fayyaz.
District Food Controller Kotli gave a detailed briefing to the Secretary Food Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He also informed the details of the performance of the Food Department within the available resources.
During the visit, the Secretary Food appreciated the performance of the Food Authority and said that the efforts of the department to prevent defective and substandard food items are commendable.
He emphasized that the provision of quality food is a basic condition for a healthy society, and the department is taking all possible steps for this purpose.
The Food Secretary, while reviewing the subsidy flour distribution system in detail, issued clear instructions that this flour should reach only the deserving and needy sections. He said that no negligence, corruption or nepotism would be tolerated in this process.
He urged the officers to ensure complete transparency and fairness in the flour distribution process.
Later, he inspected the Food Depot Kotli, where he inspected the existing building. He directed the District Food Controller Kotli to immediately redress public grievances and keep the records updated on the web portal regularly.
The Food Secretary further said that all food inspectors should send their monthly performance reports to the department regularly so that the department can monitor better and the system can be made more effective.
He said that the Food Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is making every effort to provide affordable, quality and safe food to its people.
