MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a tragic incident, a 16 year old boy lost the battle of life after a tree fell on him amid the strong winds and heavy rains.

According to the reports, the tree fell on the boy near Rara Khabib College in Muzaffarabad, install killing the him. The young boy has been identified as Raja Umar, son of Raja Tariq Khan.

The strong storm has disrupted the daily life of the residents of Azad kashmir causing difficulties in carrying out daily operations.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) report, 60 houses were damaged and dozens of shops were affected due to the strong winds, while one citizen was injured.

Strong winds uprooted several trees. In total, 30 residential houses and 6 shops were affected due to the strong winds in Muzaffarabad.

15 residential houses were affected in Rawalakot and 14 in Sidhanoti, one house was damaged in Kotli, five in Sidhanoti district and one shop in Poonch.

Muzaffarabad inner city, due to strong winds, the roofs of houses were torn from their places, while the rain brought mud and debris from the streets and neighborhoods to the road.

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain across the country, especially in the northern and upper regions, until April 20, 2025, which poses a risk of flooding and landslides.

Some areas of Azad Kashmir may be affected by landslides and floods. In this context, the SDMA has issued an alert for the people of the Neelum area and especially tourists to be careful while traveling.

The SDMA has directed the people to avoid standing under trees during rain – stay away from power lines and immediately report any fallen wires to the relevant agency.
