MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall in the northern parts of the country, including Azad Kashmir, from Tuesday.
The weather system is expected to prevail due to a shallow westerly wave, which is likely to enter the upper parts of the country on the April 08 (evening/night).
Under the influence of this weather system, rain along with thunderstorms is expected to prevail in areas of Kashmir, including Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber,and Mirpur from April 08 to 11.
Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Abbottabad, will also witness rainfall during the period.
Furthermore, the Met Office predicted that showers, along with isolated hailstor,m may also occur in the Potohar region (Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, and Jhelum), Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and Sheikhupura) during the forecast period.
The metrological department further forecasted heatwave-like conditions in the southern half of the country.
The Met Office predicted that temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 07 °C above normal in central/south Punjab, Sindh, and parts of Balochistan on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Duststorm/gusty winds are also expected in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during the forecast period,” the weather advisory read.
