SRINAGAR (Kashnir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that India is creating an atmosphere of fear and terror to suppress the Kashmir freedom movement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said that New Delhi is particularly targeting Hurriyat leaders and activists by evoking draconian laws against them.
“Raids are being carried out on the houses of Hurriyat leaders, activists and ordinary Kashmiris under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
The leaders and activists are detained and their properties are being confiscated. People of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are forced to live under the shadow of Indian oppression.
He said that these actions are an eye-opener for the international community.
The APHC made it clear to India that it will not succeed in its nefarious intentions because the Hurriyat Conference is waging a peaceful struggle for the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people as guaranteed by the United Nations.
It said Indian agencies and the Ministry of Home Affairs are trying to defame the Hurriyat by spreading propaganda against it through paid agents.
Shah’s visit to occupied Kashmir
The spokesperson condemned the planned visit of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah to occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said that he has been instructing the Indian army, police and agencies to suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people for freedom.
The statement said despite trying all kinds of cruel tactics, New Delhi has failed to suppress the spirit of freedom of the Kashmiri people.
The spokesman said that India attacked the identity of Kashmiris by illegally and unconstitutionally revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019.
The spokesperson said that whoever betrays the constitution of Hurriyat has no connection with the organization. He appealed to the Kashmiri people to remain organized and united for their legitimate struggle.
The spokesperson said that the Kashmiri people want a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
He said that the Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue between India, Pakistan and the real leadership of the Kashmiri people in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.
He said that even now, thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth, elders, women and children, are illegally detained in various jails in India and occupied Kashmir.
He urged the international community to send a team to the territory to review the ongoing Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson said that the BJP and RSS have conspired to seize the properties of Muslims and Waqf Boards in India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir through the Waqf Amendment Bill in order to erase their culture and identity.
