ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 is likely to bring an extended holiday period in Pakistan, with many anticipating a festive break starting from March 29 in the federal capital and March 30 in the provinces to April 6 (Sunday).

According to the experts, the Shawwal crescent will be visible on the evening of March 30, meeting the necessary criteria for declaring Eid on the next day.

As Ramadan draws to a close, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has predicted that Eid will likely fall on March 31 (Monday).

Eid likely on March 31

The government is likely to announce three holidays; from Monday to Wednesday. If additional holidays are granted on Thursday and Friday, the break could extend to nine days, providing Pakistanis with a rare week-long festivity.

The government will, however, announce the final holiday schedule in the coming days

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan has predicted that Ramadan will last 29 days this year. According to the Committee, the Eid moon is likely to be sighted across most parts of Pakistan on the evening of March 30 as at that time, the moon’s age will be 26 hours, making it visible under standard conditions for moon sighting.

The extended break is expected to allow people to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones and travel without work-related concerns.
