ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Peoples’ Party Azad Kashmir President and senior parliamentarian Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin has said that all political forces must demonstrate seriousness, wisdom, and tolerance to find a sustainable and acceptable solution to the ongoing issue regarding refugee seats.
He said that attempts to resolve this sensitive issue through the use of force or confrontation should be avoided, and all parties should seek a consensual solution through negotiations, consultation, and democratic procedures.
Re-evaluating procedure for refugee seats
He suggested that by re-evaluating the procedure for refugee seats, a consensus system should be devised that is acceptable to all parties, in line with democratic values, and can prevent any future disputes.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin said that refugees are an important and respectable part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, and protecting their political representation and democratic rights is the responsibility of every government and political party.
He said that this sensitive issue should be viewed in the context of national and state interests, rather than making it a matter of political struggle or ego.
He urged the Muslim League-N to adopt a positive approach, keeping in mind the delicacy and sensitivity of the matter, and to choose the path of reconciliation and negotiation to resolve differences.
He stated that the solution to political issues lies not in confrontation, but in mutual consultation, tolerance, and democratic dialogue.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin also appealed to the Joint Awami Action Committee to come to the negotiating table and play its part in finding a viable solution to the problem through meaningful dialogue with all relevant parties.
He said that adopting the path of understanding instead of confrontational politics in state affairs is an important need of the hour.
He further said that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party has always supported democratic traditions, public rights, and political dialogue, and will continue to play its positive role in fostering consensus among all parties in the current situation.
He expressed hope that through serious negotiations and an atmosphere of mutual trust, a solution to the refugee seat issue can be found that is consistent with democratic principles, public expectations, and state interests.
Chaudhry Yasin said that Pakistan is currently gripped by a new wave of terrorism and the country is facing internal and external challenges.
In such delicate circumstances, political parties, social organizations, and all national institutions have a responsibility to resolve differences through negotiation and understanding.
He said that when the country’s security and national stability are threatened, political confrontation, chaos, and unnecessary disputes should be avoided.
He further added that promoting national unity, political stability, and democratic attitudes is an important need of the hour. “All political forces should rise above personal and party interests and make decisions in the broader interest of the state and the people so that the challenges faced by Pakistan and Azad Kashmir can be effectively addressed.”
