Explosions, firing in Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, reports of boats being targeted

TEHRAN (Kashmir English): There are reports that several explosions were heard in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, the causes of which are still unclear.

Several media outlets including Al Jazeera, citing Iran’s official news agency IRNA, and the semi-official Mehr news agency reported that the situation is under control and there is no cause for concern.

According to another semi-official news agency, Tasnim, approximately three explosions were heard, while Fars News Agency stated that similar sounds were heard near Sirik and Jask, close to the strategic waterway.

Iranian army targeted a vessel at sea

On the other hand, Al Jazeera’s affiliated journalist Ali Hashem while quoting a source, reported intense gunfire after the Iranian army targeted a vessel at sea near Bandar Abbas.

“An Iranian source told me the heavy gunfire heard near Bandar Abbas erupted after the IRCG targeted a vessel at sea, followed by US fighter jests striking IRGC naval boats in the Gulf.”

According to the source, he continued, several IRGC Navy personnel were killed in the attack. “The situation is still unfolding,” he quoted the sources as having said.
