BEIJING (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Xi Jinping on Monday reaffirmed strengthening the historical legacy of Pakistan-China friendship and transforming the 75 years of relations into a new era of strategic, practical, and future-oriented cooperation, state-run PTV News reported.
PM Shehbaz, who is on a four-day visit to China, met with President Xi in Beijing today at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People in the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, COAS and CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with other senior ministers and government officials, were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the premier reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China and expressed his determination to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
He thanked President Jinping for the warm welcome and reiterated the commitment that the Pakistan-China long-standing strategic cooperative partnership is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Talking in the meeting, PM Shehbaz said that in the changing regional and global context, the strategic importance of the iron friendship between the two countries has further increased.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s core interests, especially the “One China Policy,” and appreciated China’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, national development, and economic stability.

He also praised President Xi Jinping’s bold and far-sighted leadership, which has transformed China into a global power.
Appreciating China’s support for regional peace, PM Shehbaz said that President Xi Jinping’s four-point proposal for regional peace has been widely accepted.
“In the current uncertain and tense global situation, the friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and China remain an important source of stability in the region and the world,” the PM added.
He appreciated the global initiatives based on President Xi Jinping’s vision, including the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative.
The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s full support for the vision of a “global community with a shared future for mankind”.
On the other hand, President Xi Jinping said that China and Pakistan have established an “invincible traditional friendship” based on mutual trust, understanding, and cooperation.
He stressed that despite changes in the global situation, China will always prioritize relations with Pakistan in its neighborhood policy.
Xi appreciates Pakistan’s role in ME peace efforts
Chinese President Xi also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in efforts to mediate peace in the Middle East, Reuters reported, quoting a pool report.
“Positive efforts and mediation measures for peace are commendable,” he said, while appreciating Pakistan’s constructive role in regional affairs.
During the meeting, Xi said China and Pakistan had forged an “unbreakable traditional friendship” and stressed that Beijing prioritises its ties with Islamabad in neighbourhood diplomacy.
He also referred to the PM Shehbaz as an “old friend”, underscoring close bilateral relations between the two countries. Xi added that the two countries had “understood, trusted and supported each other” for decades.
He said the friendship between the two nations was being carried forward from generation to generation, and both sides were ready to build a stronger shared future for the benefit of their peoples.
