LAHORE (Kashmir English): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that indiscriminate action will be taken against those found involved in the harassment of women.

In a post on X today, the Chief Minister said the recent matter involving a PML-N Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) and a prominent media personality is a “personal issue” and will be addressed strictly on merit and in accordance with the law.

She further made it clear that “she will not spare anyone found involved in attempting to harass, threaten, or exploit a woman.”

“No individual, regardless of status, position, or political connections, is above the law,” Maryam said, adding that state institutions will perform their duties independently, impartially, and in accordance with the Constitution and the law.

Moreover, she asserted that any attempt to exert political pressure, abuse influence, or exploit a woman through threats of releasing personal content publicly will be met with firm and uncompromising action.

“Consider this a clear and serious warning to anyone involved,” the Chief Minister wrote.

Momina Iqbal’s allegations

The statement came a day after the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) summoned TV actress and model Momina Iqbal and a PML-N lawmaker, Saqib Khan Chadhar, after she alleged online harassment and death threats by a ruling party MPA.

In her Instagram story, Momina said that after reporting cases to various agencies, including NCCIA, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and the Punjab Police, no action has been taken due to political pressure.

Momina further added that not only is she being asked to stop pursuing her case, but they are still being threatened.

She appealed to all authorities concerned to take action for their safety and also requested the court to investigate their matter fairly and impartially.

The actress even made use of her social media account to tag important figures, departments, and media outlets to express her assurance that those who misuse their power or interfere with justice will surely face legal consequences.
