MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has urged citizens to get their vote details corrected within the stipulated period, a day after publishing the preliminary ‘electoral rolls‘.
In a press release, the election commission spokesperson said if any eligible voter’s vote is left out of the list or is registered in the wrong constituency/wrong location, he/she can get his/her vote corrected within the stipulated period.”
It further stated that applications for this purpose can be submitted to the concerned Revising Authority (Deputy Commissioner) from April 28 to May 04, 2026.
The electoral body requested the public to ensure the registration and accuracy of their vote by submitting the application on time so that there is no omission or error in the final electoral roll.
“The Election Commission appeals for full cooperation from the public so that a transparent and accurate electoral roll can be prepared,” according to the spokesperson.
Earlier on Tuesday, the commission announced that the provisional electoral rolls have been displayed in the offices of all registration officers, including the district office of the Election Commission of AJK.
To check their voter registration, citizens can SMS their CNIC number to 8302 or visit the designated offices to the electoral rolls and ensure their voter registration at the permanent address of the CNIC.
AJK election to be held in July
Earlier on April 22, Chief Election Commissioner Azad Kashmir Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal dismissed the rumors circulating about the postponement of the general election 2026 in AJK, saying that polls are expected in the first or second week of July.
The CEC said that the reports circulating about the postponement of the elections are baseless and the Election Commission is making efforts to hold the elections on time with full preparations.
He said that the preparations for the elections are going on in full swing and that the electoral rolls will be displayed on April 30.
Moreover, the election schedule is likely to be released in mid-May, CEC Ghulam Mustafa said.
