ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad authorities have instructed all Red Zone federal ministry and division employees to work from home because of increased security protocols, which will begin with international diplomatic events.
All government offices within the Red Zone and its extended areas, including federal ministries, divisions, and institutions, must start remote working arrangements according to official instructions, which begin on April 20 2026.
The decision has been taken in light of the second round of United States–Iran peace talks preparations, which are expected to take place under strict security protocols. The Red Zone has been completely sealed off with all forms of public access restricted.
The area has suspended all traffic movement while allowing only official vehicles to enter. Public and private transport services, including buses and heavy vehicles such as trucks, have also been halted until further notice.
The Pakistan Secretariat staff and all federal departments have received orders to perform their work from home, according to officials.
The move aims to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate the smooth implementation of security arrangements. The Islamabad administration enforces these measures to protect the safety of international delegations while ensuring order during high-level diplomatic discussions. Residents must avoid unnecessary travel while using alternate routes whenever they can.
