BAJAUR (Kashmir English): Pakistan Army destroyed Afghan Taliban checkposts and killed several terrorists in retaliation for the unprovoked shelling on civilians in the Bajaur sector on Thursday.

Security sources said that three Afghan Taliban checkpoints were destroyed and several terrorists were killed in an operation on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, three people, including two children, of the same family were martyred due to shelling by the Afghan Taliban in the border area of Bajaur, security sources said.

The unprovoked shelling from Indian-backed Taliban forces against civilians in Malik Shaheen village of Katkot also left three others seriously injured.

The deceased belonged to the same family, sources said, adding that the three injured were shifted to the hospital.

Security sources added that the Afghan Taliban had been trying to infiltrate a formation of Fitna al-Khawarij into Pakistan for a few days, which was foiled due to the timely action of the Pakistan Army.

Disappointed by this failure, the Afghan Taliban targeted the Pakistani civilian population in Katkot.

Funeral prayer offered

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of the martyred were offered today, where a large number of senior officers of the security forces and residents of the area were present.

Senior officers of the security forces also visited the affected house and assured the families of all possible cooperation.

Residents of Bajaur strongly condemned this cowardly act and expressed complete solidarity with the security forces. The security forces are always vigilant and determined to protect the lives and property of the people and establish lasting peace in the area, residents said.

Residents described the incident as very sad and condemnable, saying that targeting unarmed and innocent civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances.

According to the residents, such attacks fall under the category of open aggression and are also against human values.

The people of Bajaur said that Pakistan always tried to maintain good relations with the neighboring country, and even in difficult circumstances, the Afghan people were provided with shelter and facilities.

Nevertheless, such incidents in the border areas are very worrying. They said that the nation that was considered as brothers and given a place in the heart, today being shelled by the same side, is a cause of great sadness and disappointment.
