TEXAS (Kashmir English): After five years apart, a US family has finally been reunited with their long-lost cat thanks to a microchip.

According to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Texas, the cat was brought to their facility in March. After the staff scanned the animal’s microchip, they were able to retrieve the owners’ contact details.

According to the cat’s owner, his wife received an email notifying them that the microchip-tagged cat had been found. They then checked the shelter’s “lost and found” page, where they recognized their pet.

Animal shelter officials were surprised to know that the cat, named Kit Kat, had been missing for five years before finally being found and returned to its family.
