CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): Instagram has launched a new feature allowing users to edit their comments after posting in a significant step toward improving user experience.
The feature, widely requested by users, is part of broader Meta efforts to refine platform usability and address ongoing concerns revolving around the text of the messages.
The new feature enables users to fix typos or make changes without deleting and reposting comments.
A minor but crucial update resolves a long-standing frustration for many users who previously had no option to edit comments once posted.
How Instagram feature works
Users can edit their comments within a 15-minute window after posting.
During this time, multiple edits can be made if needed, offering flexibility to refine or correct text.
Once a comment is edited, a label will indicate that changes have been made.
However, the platform does not display the original version of the comment.
The feature comes with certain restrictions. The users will be allowed to edit only text-based comments. If a comment includes an image, it cannot be modified after posting.
This update reflects Instagram’s ongoing push to enhance user experience.
Alongside comment editing, Instagram has also launched new safety measures aimed at younger users.
These include restricting certain types of content for teen accounts based on age ratings.
The move follows increasing scrutiny of Meta over child safety concerns and the potential mental health impact of its platforms.
