WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): White House has said that President Trump was aware of the proposal by Pakistan’s Prime Minister 2-week Iran ceasefire.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavit tells Axios: “The President has been made been aware of the proposal by Pakistan’s PM, and a response will come.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requested President Trump to extend the deadline for Iran.
He said that diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East are gradually, strongly, and powerfully moving forward, which could yield significant results in the near future.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that to allow diplomacy to take its course, “I request President Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks”.
Iran urged to open Strait of Hormuz
He said that Pakistan, with utmost sincerity, requests its Iranian brothers to open the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks as a gesture of goodwill.
Shehbaz Sharif appealed, “We also request all warring parties to give diplomacy a chance for the ultimate cessation of hostilities and to observe a ceasefire for two weeks, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also tagged his tweet to US President Donald Trump, US Vice President JD Vance, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Representative Witkoff, Steve Witkoff, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump has given Iran a deadline for today and threatened a major attack, after which the entire region is gripped with concern.
During this time, Pakistan is making vigorous diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire.
