KARACHI (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s maritime landscape is witnessing a landmark activity, with its major ports currently hosting a record number of vessels.

The global shipping lines have diverted cargo away from traditional, high-risk regional routes while Pakistan’s Port Qasim, Karachi and Gwadar ports are witnessing unprecedented congestion.

Karachi Port is hosting approximately 54 vessels, while Port Qasim 18, with long queues expected next week. Gwadar Port is also experiencing heavy traffic and docking requests.

Pakistani ports are witnessing success and becoming a major challenge for regional allies.

Long queues of shipping containers are visible across terminal areas, and maritime authorities expect extended waiting times and heavy traffic to persist into next week.

Port Qasim is currently managing 18 vessels at berth as Gwadar emerges as a strategic alternative for the first time.
