NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): Traffic movement has been successfully restored in Neelum Valley after authorities cleared a landslide that had blocked the main highway at Kelseri, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The Deputy Commissioner Zakbal Ahsan announced that the main highway section, which connects Chalhana Marble to Taubat, now permits all vehicle types to travel through it, which benefits both residents and visiting tourists.

He stated that crews currently work to clear stones and debris from multiple connecting routes, which include Jagran Valley Road, so that the entire area can achieve safe and efficient transportation.

Partial electricity service has been restored to both the Jagran Power House line and its surrounding areas, according to officials. The district will achieve complete power restoration by evening after the Nausiri Grade Station line repair work finishes, according to authorities.

The deputy commissioner reported that essential infrastructure components such as roads, electricity, and communication systems have reached their operational status after the outage period.

The Neelum–Muzaffarabad to Taubat road reopening will provide significant travel relief while creating better access for both tourists and residents.

Deputy Commissioner Haveli warns of landslides

Deputy Commissioner Haveli has warned the public of landslides and road disruptions as heavy rain continues in the area.

In a public message, Deputy Commissioner Haveli, Raja Umar Tariq, said the public should avoid unnecessary travel as rain with thunder and lightning has been ongoing since last night, leading to a risk of landslides.

He appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and ensure their safety.

The Meteorological Department has forecast rain until April 10, so the public in the Haveli area has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel.

Haveli transporters cautioned

“Transporters should not use the Toli Pir Road, and all types of travel are prohibited after sunset in case of rain.”

All arrangements have been made by the administration for the safety of the public’s lives and property.

For assistance in any difficult situation, the district administration has directed the public to contact the control room at 05823 931702 while the public is urged to cooperate with the administration.
