Police solve mystery as video of ‘Baal’ statue in Karachi goes viral

KARACHI (Kashmir English): An unusual statue, reportedly depicting ‘Baal’, a demon mentioned in the Holy Quran, has surfaced outside a shop in Karachi, with a video of it circulating on social media, triggering widespread speculation.

As the video went viral, Karachi police took quick action, recovering the sculptures of ‘Baal’ and solving the mystery.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Mehran Town within the jurisdiction of the Korangi Industrial Area police station.

Police, the statue was made from thermocol by a local sculptor and was commissioned by Allama Shabar Zaidi.

The authorities said that a local sculptor named Imran has submitted a written statement to police explaining the intent behind the making of the Baal statue.

He said that it was meant to be set ablaze during Yaum-e-Quds as part of a symbolic protest.

According to police, Allama Shabbar Zaidi said that he planned to burn the statue during the Quds Day program on Friday to present it as a symbolic message.

However, the video of the statue had already gone viral on social media, after which the matter became the center of public attention.
