ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has decided to start the process of installing M-Tags on motorcycles in Islamabad from tomorrow (Feb 20), in the second phase of the campaign aimed to secure the federal capital.
The first phase of the campaign; installation of M-Tags on four-wheelers in the federal capital is already underway. According to the city administration, the official launch of M-Tag installation on motorcycles will be on February 20.
Motorcycle owners will be able to obtain M-Tags at city’s designated points from February 20. It is mandatory to bring motorcycle documents and identity card for the M-Tag.
Over 600,000 vehicles issued M-Tags so far
The decision will apply to all bikes, Bykea, heavy bikes, and all types of motorcycles. So far, more than 600,000 vehicles have been issued M-Tags in Islamabad, according to DG Excise, Irfan Memon.
The M-Tag installation process is ongoing at 13 points across the city and the purpose of all these measures is to make travel safe for the city and its citizens, DG Excise added.
