US-Iran Talks open as Washington signals options beyond diplomacy

MUSCAT (Kashmir English): The White House has warned Iran that the US president, Donald Trump, has many options besides diplomacy.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a press briefing that Trump has been very clear about his demands on the Iran issue. Karoline said that Trump wants to see if a deal can be reached with Iran.

During the press briefing, she sent a message to the Iranian leadership that the US president has other options besides diplomacy.

Karoline added that Trump is the commander-in-chief of the most powerful army in the history of the world and he can use his authority.

US-Iran Talks

The talks between the US and Iran will be held today in the capital of Oman, Muscat. According to Arab media reports, US and Iranian officials have left for Oman to participate in the talks.

The US delegation includes Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, among others.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said that Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will participate in nuclear talks with the US in Muscat this morning.

According to the spokesman, Iran will participate in the nuclear talks with full authority with the aim of reaching a fair, mutually acceptable and dignified understanding.

Earlier, the US-Iran nuclear talks were scheduled for Friday in Turkey, after which Iran demanded that the talks be moved from Istanbul to Oman.

Iran had also demanded that the venue of the talks be changed, as well as that regional partners not be included in the talks and that the talks be limited to nuclear issues only, however, no details have been revealed yet regarding the acceptance or rejection of these demands.
