LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government declared public holidays to celebrate Basant throughout the entire province. The official notification was released on February 3, 2026.
The Services and General Administration Department confirmed that February 6 and 7, 2026, will be observed as public holidays in Punjab. All provincial government offices, departments, and institutions will remain closed on these days.
The department has ordered authorities to make the decision known to the public through extensive methods. National and regional newspapers, together with electronic media outlets, will distribute the announcement.
The Punjab government previously confirmed that Lahore would resume Basant celebrations after eighteen years. Authorities will implement comprehensive safety regulations throughout the festival.

The newly established Basant holidays enable these festivities. Image The government will designate February 5 as a public holiday to commemorate Kashmir Day. The day serves to demonstrate support for the people who live in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
The Punjab government offices will stay closed for three entire days from February 5 to February 7 because of the new announcements.
