DAVOS (Kashmir English): US President Donald Trump has claimed that his intervention helped prevent a major war between India and Pakistan, both nuclear-armed countries, saying the conflict could have resulted in the loss of millions of lives.
Speaking on the matter, Trump said he was “very pleased” to have played a role in stopping a war that had already begun between the two countries. He stated that the situation was extremely dangerous and that “very bad things were about to happen.”
Trump further claimed that the Prime Minister of Pakistan had told him that his actions helped save “10, perhaps even 20 million lives” by stopping the conflict just in time. Trump said he felt deeply honored by the statement and emphasized the seriousness of the situation at the time.
The remarks have sparked debate, as tensions between India and Pakistan have historically drawn international concern due to both nations’ nuclear capabilities. No official response has yet been issued by Indian authorities regarding Trump’s claims.
