MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The district administration has announced a local public holiday across Muzaffarabad district on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, on account of the annual Urs of Hazrat Sain Saheli Sarkar.
In a notification issued on Tuesday, the district magistrate said that Hazrat Sain Saheli Sarkar’s annual Urs is celebrated for nine days starting from January 13, 2026, till January 21, 2026.
“On the occasion of the completion of the prayer ceremony, there will be a public holiday in the district on Wednesday, 21.01.2026,” it said.
Therefore, all district offices, government and private educational institutions in Muzaffarabad district will remain closed on this occasion, the notification stated.
The nine-day celebrations of the annual Urs began on Tuesday with Quran recitation, fateha khwani, and collective prayers attended by a large number of devotees.
The shrine was given a bath, and a chadar was laid. During the Urs, mehfils-e-naat, mehfils-e-zikr, langar (public kitchen), and other spiritual activities continued, while special prayers were offered for the country’s security and prosperity.
