ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Government of Pakistan has reconstituted a high-level committee formed to deliberate on the issue of refugee seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.
The notification issued by the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, GB, and SAFRON, stated that “Advocate Sardar Javed Naz has been included in the said committee in place of Advocate Tahir Anwar.”
Earlier last month, the government notified the formation of a nine-member high-level committee, comprising three members each representing the federal government, the AJK government, and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
The committee was formed in pursuance of the agreement signed between the governments and the JAAC, which stated that a committee comprising legal and constitutional experts would deliberate on the issue of members of the AJK Assembly, excluding those from state constituencies.
The recent decision was made after government member Sardar Tahir Anwar raised objections to the nomination in the committee, followed by his subsequent withdrawal from the process.
The modification has been made in light of a letter issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary, Azad Kashmir.
Following the inclusion of a new member, Law Minister Mian Abdul Waheed, General Secretary of the PPP Lawyers Wing Raja Ijaz Advocate, and lawyer Sardar Javed Naz Advocate will represent the Azad Kashmir government.
Moreover, Khashih-ur-Rehman, Consultant of Pakistan’s Ministry of Law and Justice, Hassan Mahmood, Legislative Advisor, Ministry of Law and Justice, and Taimoor Zareen Khan, Consultant Research, Ministry of Law and Justice, were appointed to the committee as federal government representatives.
The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has nominated Raja Amjad Ali Khan Advocate, Sardar Arbab Advocate, and Saad Ansari Advocate.
