Murree receives first snowfall of winter, visitors’ entry restricted

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The first snowfall in Murree, the Queen of Hills, on the eve of New Year created a captivating scene.

As a white blanket of snow covered the mountains and valleys, a wave of joy spread among tourists, while a large number of tourists from across the country arrived in Murree to celebrate New Year and enjoy the snowfall.

As soon as the snowfall began, tourists rejoiced and were busy taking pictures and videos of the beautiful scenery.

Due to the extraordinary influx of tourists, the administration took foolproof measures for traffic control. Barriers were erected at Phulgran Toll Plaza and 17-Meel Toll Plaza, stopping hundreds of vehicles. Local citizens were also not allowed to proceed beyond the toll plaza.

According to the administration, these measures were taken for the safety of citizens and tourists.

Traffic advisory for Murree visitors

Due to the ongoing snowfall on New Year’s Eve, the Chief Traffic Officer Murree has issued a detailed traffic advisory.

The advisory states that due to slippery roads, use tire chains, do not park vehicles on the road at all, but only use designated parking areas.

Tourists should thoroughly check their vehicles before coming to Murree and carry dry fruits, warm clothes, and essential items during their journey. It has also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially at night.

On the other hand, Motorway Police have deployed additional personnel and vehicles on the Murree Expressway. According to the Motorway Police, all machinery is active to maintain the flow of traffic, and citizens should avoid unnecessary travel in view of weather conditions, keep speed low, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
