MURREE (Kashmir English): The district administration on Tuesday imposed Section 144 in Murree on December 25 and New Year’s Eve to maintain public order and ensure the safety of residents and tourists in the hill station.

The Deputy Commissioner of Murree has issued an official notification detailing the restrictions.

According to the notification, special restrictions will remain in place on Mall Road and surrounding areas during the specified dates.

Under the new measures, only tourists arriving with families will be permitted to enter Mall Road, while the entry of bachelor tourists has been strictly prohibited.

The administration further banned access of unmarried groups or individual visitors to Murree GPO Chowk and Mall Road.

The decision was taken in view of past incidents of overcrowding, traffic congestion, and law-and-order challenges witnessed during peak holiday periods.

Authorities said the restrictions aim to facilitate smooth traffic flow, prevent untoward incidents, and ensure a safe and family-friendly environment for visitors.

Law enforcement agencies have been directed to strictly implement the orders, with checkpoints established at key entry points to regulate movement.

Officials have urged tourists to cooperate with the administration and follow the issued guidelines to avoid inconvenience. Violations of Section 144 will invite legal action in accordance with the law.
